NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's cross country team will compete at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday afternoon and will look to be competitive against a strong field which features four nationally-ranked programs. The event will be hosted by Bates and take place at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine.
Connecticut College has been led by Meredith Cronin (Foxboro, Mass.) this season. The freshman, who has been the team's top finisher at every meet, most recently finished 33rd out of 273 competitors at the Connecticut College Invitational on Oct. 14 to help the Camels place 10th as a squad. Junior Eva Brydson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) has emerged as the team's number two runner, while senior captain Grace Sheeran (Medina, Wash.) has shown significant improvement and finished eight seconds behind Bryson on a rain-soaked course at Harkness Memorial Park two weeks ago.
Other notable performers for the Camel women's program include sophomore Hannah Noyes (Vinalhaven, Conn.), freshman Tarvis Hintlian (Winchester, Mass.) and senior Micaela Nee (Hanover, Mass.). All three harriers have been among the team's top five finishers at least twice so far this fall.
The women's 6,000-meter race will commence at 1:00 p.m. and admission to the championship event is free. An awards ceremony is also set to start shortly after the women's results become official.
