GORHAM, Maine – Junior Shannon Kennedy (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and senior Olivia Vener (Marblehead, Mass.) each competed in the pentathlon at a final qualifying meet hosted by Southern Maine on Friday evening.
Kennedy placed fourth with 3,033 points. She most notably completed the 55-meter high hurdles in 9.04 seconds, which ranks third on the program's all-time list, and finished second in the long jump by leaping 16-feet, 5.25-inches.
Vener notched a personal-best mark of 2,918 points to finish sixth overall. Her top effort came in the 55-meter high hurdles, as her mark of 9.28 ranks eighth on the program's all-time list in the event. She also registered personal bests in the long jump by leaping 16-3 and the 800 after circling the track in 2:27.02.
Select members of the Connecticut College women's track & field team will head to Tufts for another final qualifier meet next weekend.
