MEXICO CITY, Mexico - Rising sophomores Emily Lorry (Wynnewood, Pa.) and Shani Breiman (Brookline, Mass.) won a gold medal as members of the United States Women's Open Soccer Team at the 14th Annual Pan American Maccabi Games in Mexico City earlier this month.
Held every four years, the Pan American Maccabi Games is an international sports competition for Jewish athletes from North, Central and South America as well as Israel and other countries. More than 2,500 athletes from 23 countries participated in this year's games in 24 different sports.
Lorry and Breiman competed against soccer teams from Israel, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil. Their United States program finished group play with an undefeated 3-0-2 record, which was capped by earning a 1-0 victory over Brazil in the gold medal match.
