WORCESTER, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's rowing team won two races at a regatta held at Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday morning.
Guided by sophomore coxswain Kelley Frumer (Bowdoinham, Maine), the varsity eight triumphed in its three-team race by covering a 2,000-meter course in 7:35.68. The Camels finished more than four seconds ahead of Assumption and almost a minute faster than Franklin Pierce while competing in challenging conditions with winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour.
Sophomore Rebecca LaPoint (Marlborough, Conn.) also piloted the second varsity four to victory, registering a time of 9:01.4 to beat four other boats representing Merrimack, Assumption and Trinity.
The Connecticut College women's rowing team will return to Lake Quinsigamond to race at the New England Championships on Saturday, May 4.
