WORCESTER, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's rowing team had two of its boats record third-place finishes at the program's first race of the spring season at Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday morning.
Racing in sunny and seasonable conditions with a slight cross wind, senior captain and coxswain Joyce Welch (Cranston, R.I.) guided the varsity eight to a third-place time of 7:45.8 on the 2,000-meter course. Led by coxswain Kelley Frumer (Bowdoinham, Maine), the second varsity eight matched the effort by crossing the line in 8:20.1. Both boats finished behind No. 13 Washington College and Clark and ahead of Assumption and Johnson & Wales.
Connecticut College will return to Lake Quinsigamond to compete at the Barbara Donahue Cup against some of the top teams in the country on Saturday, Apr. 13. The Camels will race against No. 3 WPI, Simmons, Rochester and No. 2 Williams at the regatta.
