WORCESTER, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's rowing program won two races in its fourth regatta of the season on Saturday morning at Lake Quinsigamond. The Camels rowed against Amherst, Assumption, Franklin Pierce, Jefferson, Merrimack, Trinity and UMass Lowell.
Guided by sophomore coxswain Anna Jeffers (Cambridge, Mass.), the second varsity four was victorious by covering the 2,000-meter course in 8:36.405. The group also included junior Madelyn Brewer (Dallas, Texas) in the stroke seat as well as classmates Rebekah Duseau (Conway, Mass.), Julia Vitagliano (Newton, Mass.) and Alexa Bassler (Belmont, Mass.).
The third varsity four cruised to victory by crossing the line in 8:44.616, which was more than 26 seconds faster than runner-up Amherst. Freshman coxswain Kelley Spy Frumer (Bowdoinham, Maine) paced a team also consisting of sophomore Jessica Hunnewell (Sherborn, Mass.), junior Gavriella King (Raymond, Maine), junior Martha Willey (New York, N.Y.) and freshman Julia Whelan (Dartmouth, Mass.).
Connecticut College will trek back to Lake Quinsigamond to compete at the New England Championships next weekend. The two-day event begins on Friday, May 4.
