NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College women's ice hockey senior Bailey Mertz (Glenville, N.Y.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office. She is being recognized for the first time this season.
Mertz helped the Camels register a 1-0-1 record on the road at Bowdoin by recording 57 saves and a pair of shutouts between the pipes. She first stopped 28 shots in a 1-0 overtime victory before turning away 29 in a 0-0 overtime tie a day later. Mertz is the second Camel to be recognized by the league office this season, as classmate Jordan Cross (Saugus, Mass.) received the same weekly award on Nov. 19 after the team went undefeated on the road in a two-game series against Amherst.
Connecticut College (10-8-3, NESCAC 6-5-3) will look to put itself in the best position for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament when it wraps up the regular season at home against Hamilton this weekend.
