HADLEY, Mass. – Connecticut College junior women's basketball standout Sami Ashton (Clinton, Conn.) has been named to the All-NESCAC Second Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. She is receiving the recognition for the first time of her career.
Ashton averaged 16.2 points, which is tied for first among all NESCAC players, while shooting 44.2 percent from the floor. She also dished out 1.7 assists per game, which was tied for a team high, and led the Camels with 1.6 steals per contest. In addition, the junior ranks fourth in the league by canning 42.6 percent of her shots from long range. Ashton scored in twin figures 19 times in 23 appearances and ended the 2018-19 campaign on a high note by racking up 29 points, which matched a NESCAC Tournament record, in a quarterfinal game against Bowdoin on Feb. 8.
Connecticut College is slated to return more than 10 letterwinners, including Ashton, as well as three starters next season.
