Men’s Cross Country Places Sixth at Home Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. – The No. 28 Connecticut College men's cross country team finished sixth among 27 scoring programs at its home invitational, which was held at Harkness Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) paced the Camels by circling the wet and rain-soaked 8,000-meter circuit in 24:58.6, which was good for fourth place, and was directly followed by senior Scott Mason (Chestnut Hill, Pa.), who recorded a time of 24:58.8. Senior Price Day (Harvard, Mass.) was 30th overall and third on the squad by hitting the tape in 25:45.2, while classmate Russell Adam (Cheshire, Conn.) and junior Josh Simensky (Falmouth, Maine) completed the team's top five by placing 67th and 123rd, respectively, with times of 26:08.7 and 26:44.4.

No. 16 Amherst edged out archival and No. 8 Williams by four points to claim the team crown at the competitive meet which included five nationally-ranked programs. Eric Herrmann of No. 30 Dickinson won the individual title among a field consisting of 402 runners by crossing the line in 24:43.2.

Connecticut College will next compete at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Franklin Park in Boston and look to improve on last year's fourth-place finish.
