MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sophomore Billy Fleurima (Bronx, N.Y.) set the school record in the 60-meter dash to lead the Connecticut College men's track & field team in its season-opening meet at Wesleyan on Friday evening.
Fleurima hit the tape in 7.15 seconds to finish second overall in the sprint. His mark bettered the previous record of 7.21 which was established by teammate Ian McAleer (Newfields, N.H.) at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Feb. 2, 2019. Fleurima also posted a runner-up finish in the 200 by circling the track in 23.85.
Another notable effort on the track was made by freshman Jeffrey Love (Union, N.J.). The distance runner covered the 3,000 in 9:01.56.
In the field, senior Jacob Beloin (Cheshire Conn.) notched a mark of 31-feet, 6.5-inches in the shot put.
Connecticut College will take a break for final exams and the holiday season and resume action when it treks to Maine for the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11.
