NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five members of the Connecticut College men's track & field team raced at the New England Championships on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University over the weekend. The Camels tied for 35th place among 38 scoring teams with two points by placing eighth in two events.
Junior Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) competed first on Friday night and finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run by hitting the tape in 14:57.42. The Camels then closed out the meet by fielding a 4x800-meter relay squad which navigated the track in 7:50.55. The group included juniors Jacob Brill-Weil (Cambridge, Mass.) and Josh Simensky (Falmouth, Maine) as well as sophomore Spencer Crough (Southampton, N.Y.) and freshman Ben Vazquez (Millington, N.J.).
Select members of the Connecticut College track & field teams will compete at a pair of final qualifying meets next week. Williams hosts a final qualifier on Wednesday evening and MIT welcomes top student-athletes a day later.
