Scott Mason Advances to Finals of 3,000-Meter Steeplechase at NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Connecticut College junior Scott Mason (Wyndmoor, Pa.) advanced to the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday afternoon.

Mason, who was an All-American in the event last spring, placed fifth in the second heat by punching in a time of 9:19.36 to advance to the final. His time, which was less than a second behind the top finisher, was also the sixth-fastest mark among the 20 competitors in the event.

The Connecticut College men's track & field program will next have two individuals compete on Saturday afternoon. Mason will run in the steeplechase finals at 12:30 p.m. (11:30 a.m. CST) and sophomore Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) will race in the 5,000-meter run at 4:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. CST).
