PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Scott Mason (Wyndmoor, Pa.) of the Connecticut College men's track & field team registered the nation's third-best time by a Division III student-athlete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Princeton University's Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday evening.
Mason, who is looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the second straight season in the event, hit the tape in 9:04.06 to place sixth overall and second among collegians behind Princeton's Ed Trippas. His time only trails Mark Fairley of Central College, who notched a mark of 8:57.39 on Thursday, and Logan McKenzie of Berea. McKenzie completed the event in 9:02.06 at the Bellarmine Invitational on Apr. 6.
Connecticut College is sending a full squad to compete at Trinity on Saturday.
