NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Jonathan Handy (Hingham, Mass.) registered a pair of top-six finishes in throwing events to pace the Connecticut College men's track & field team at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Camels finished the meet in a tie for sixth place with 43 points.
Handy most notably placed third in the hammer throw by registering a toss that traveled 140-feet, 2-inches. He also picked up an additional three points for the Camels with a sixth-place mark of 129-7 in the javelin throw.
On the track, the Camels got notable efforts from sophomore Christian Carr-Locke (Walpole, Mass.) and freshman Ian McAleer (Newfield, N.H.). Carr-Locke finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 1:59.99, while McAleer was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.35 seconds.
Connecticut College will compete at home next weekend when it hosts the Silfen Invitational beginning on Friday, Apr. 13.
