Uzii Dieng '19 and Ben Manoogian '19 have begun professional men's soccer careers in Europe, marking the first time in program history that two members of the same graduating class have continued playing professionally on the continent.
Dieng has been playing with FCA Darmstadt, which competes in the 5th Tier Division in Germany, for the past several months. After making the NPSL North Atlantic Conference Best XI while competing with Boston City FC during the early summer, Manoogian will now begin playing for Grythyttans IF. The program competes in the 4th Tier Division in Sweden.
Both players were catalysts during one of the most successful runs in the history of the Connecticut College men's soccer program which has made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Dieng and Manoogian were both 2018 All-NESCAC First Team selections for their roles in the team's historic season that saw the Camels host an NCAA Regional and advance to the second round for the first time ever, while Manoogian also garnered All-New England praise from the United Soccer Coaches.
Headlined by rising junior AJ Marcucci (West Chester, Pa.), who was recognized as the top Division III goalkeeper in the nation by two national organizations, the Camels are slated to bring back more than 20 letterwinners this fall to field a team which will take aim at making its 10th NESCAC Tournament appearance in the last 11 years as well as its third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
