SALEM, Mass. – Junior Rory Garlasco (Wayne, N.J.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Connecticut College men's ice hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Salem State on Tuesday evening at Rockett Arena on Tuesday evening.
Freshman Colin Stevens (Concord, N.H.) put the Camels on the board at the midway point of the first period when he collected a rebound and potted an uncontested shot past netminder Sean Cleary. Just 5:31 later, junior Ryan Petti (Tewksbury, Mass.) doubled the margin by catching Cleary out of position and sneaking the puck past him.
Salem State (3-6-1) was able to slice the deficit in half during their first power play of the second period courtesy of Bill McGwin, but the Camels recovered and regained their two-goal lead when Garlasco finished a pass from classmate Jacob Moreau (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) at the 6:01 mark of the third period. Sophomore Matt Creamer (Warwick, R.I.) then scored on an empty net in the waning seconds to put the game away.
Junior Avery Gobbo (Mississauga, Ontario) picked up the victory between the pipes by making 23 saves on 24 chances for the Camels. Cleary suffered the loss despite making 37 saves.
Connecticut College (2-4-1) returns home to face Colby on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
