WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Connecticut College women's water polo team took three out of its five Division III Conference matches at Washington & Jefferson College this weekend.
The Camels (7-13) earned a split in Friday's action, dropping a 12-4 decision to Carthage before wrapping up the day with a 13-8 victory against Grove City College. In Saturday's action, Connecticut College defeated Penn State-Behrend 6-4 and upended Monmouth in a 10-7 victory. Connecticut College wrapped up the weekend by dropping a 12-4 decision to the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson.
Junior April Anderson (Mill Valley, Calif.) and senior Brianna Harrity (Jeffersonville, Pa.) scored two goals each in the loss to Carthage. In the triumph against Grove City, Ginny McCool (Gulf Stream, Fla.) erupted with four goals to lead the Camels in the offensive uprising. Sophia Soriano (Summerland, Calif.), Anderson and Sarah Nappo (Portland, Maine) all contributed with two goals for the winning side. Harrity, Shannon Cry (Monterey, Calif.) and Hannah Rogers (Kingston, Pa.) all provided single markers in the win. Senior net-minder Sarah Sovia (Pottstown, Pa.) made 10 saves in the cage.
In Saturday's victory against the Behrend Lions of Penn State, Harrity recorded a hat-trick with three scores while Cry finished with two. Kaitlin Reagan (Saratoga, Calif.) provided a single tally for the victors. In the triumph against the Scots of Monmouth, Sovia made 12 saves in the cage, leading the Camels to the conference victory. Anderson netted a hat-trick while McCool found the back of the net with two scores for the Camels. Junior Paige Cackovic (New Albany, Ohio), Cry, Reagan, Soriano and Harrity all contributed with a goal for Head Coach Matt Anderson's squad.
In the loss to W & J Sunday, Cry Rogers, Soriano and Anderson contributed with goals for the Camels.
