BOSTON, Mass.--The Connecticut College women's track and field team visited Roxbury Crossing and the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center to compete in the NEICAAA (All-New England Including D. 1, 2, 3) Championship today.
In the one-mile run, senior Bella Franz (Water Mill, N.Y.) matched her second place finish from a year ago, besting her previous school record in a time of 4:54.55. Franz is currently ranked #4 on the national performance list for the Camels with the NCAA Championship just two weeks away. Shannon Kennedy (East Longmeadow, Mass.) eclipsed her school record in the pentathlon, scoring 2,955 points. This was the third time she improved on her school record this winter.
The 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Ivana Lamptey (Leicester, Mass.), Alicia Palmer (Bloomfield, Conn.), Leila Alfaro (Charleston, S.C.) and Franz posted a time of 4:04.67. This was the second fastest indoor time in program history and the fourth fastest time in College annals including both indoor and outdoor competition at Connecticut College. Ashley Bjorkman (Mansfield, Mass.) ran the 500 meter dash in 1:23.13 to move to #3 on the Camels' all-time list in this event.
Senior Ashley Curran (Franklin, Mass.) posted a time of 17:56.04 in the 5,000 meter run. In the shot put, Koko Mensah (Orange, N.J.) covered a distance of 39 feet, eight and a half inches while Kennedy threw the shot put 38 feet, six inches for the Camels.
