NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior Bella Franz of Water Mill, N.Y. has been honored as the NESCAC Women's Track Performer of the Week.
Franz bettered her own school record in the 1,500 meters by more than five seconds when she posted a time of 4:33.91 at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday.
Franz vaulted her way all the way up into the top 20 on the national performance list with her run.
She qualified for the New England Division III, the ECAC and the All-New England (Division 1, 2, 3) Championships for the Camels.
"I am extremely proud of all that Bella has accomplished this year and throughout her career," Connecticut College Head Track & Field Coach Ned Bishop said. "She had not raced for several weeks in between the NCAA Indoor Championship and the Silfen Invitational a week ago, so I am especially proud of how well she has performed in her first two races of the season. The 1500 meter race at Princeton on Friday night was just what she needed to provide some momentum and confidence as we head into the championship portion of the outdoor season."
Franz and the Camels will visit Amherst College this weekend to compete in the NESCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
