Camels Knock Off Trinity & Wheaton: Molina Posts Victory in 500 Yard Freestyle

HARTFORD, Conn.--Connecticut College senior Mace Molina (Wilton, Conn.) secured a victory in the 500 yard freestyle to help lead the Camels in a sweep of Trinity and Wheaton College hosted by the Trinity College Bantams in Hartford Saturday.

The Camels knocked off Trinity by a count of 168.5-93.5 while also defeating the Lyons of Wheaton in a 214.5-72.5 victory. 

Senior All-American Mike Fothergill (Medford, Mass.) continues to dominate his opposition. Fothergill triumphed in both the 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke with respective times of 47.36 and 52.97 seconds. Speaking of All-Americans, junior AJ Pite (Orange, Conn.) continued his torrid stretch of success Saturday, posting winning times of 1:57.73 and 2:10.16 in the 200 yard individual medley and the 200 yard breaststroke.

In the 100 yard butterfly, senior Stephen Skaperdas (New Canaan, Conn.) clocked out with a winning time of 52.71 seconds. Junior All-American George Tilneac (New York, N.Y.) won the 200 yard butterfly in 1:55.55. 

The Camels posted victories in both relays Saturday.

In the 200 yard medley relay, the Camel quartet comprised of Fothergill, Pite, Tilneac and Drake Freiberg (Glastonbury, Conn.) triumphed in 1:36.75. 

Tilneac, Skaperdas, Fothergill and Pite won the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:10.16.
