Connecticut College Athletics Holds Annual Awards Banquet to Honor Most Successful Senior Class in School History

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Women's sailing captain Charlotte List and men's swimming standout Weston Stephens were among the student-athletes who were presented with major awards at the 2017-18 Connecticut College Senior Awards Banquet over the weekend.

The event celebrated the achievements of the senior class over the past four years and recognized five student-athletes with major awards. In addition to List and Stephens, other awards were given to women's basketball forward Mairead Hynes, women's soccer comeback player Caroline Kelleher and men's lacrosse faceoff specialist Ben Parens.

Connecticut College Major Award Winners

Tammy Brown Award (Top Female Scholar-Athlete): Charlotte List (Sailing)

Established by the class of 1984 and given to the outstanding female student-athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership, and sportsmanship.

James Brooks Award (Top Male Scholar-Athlete): Weston Stephens (Swimming)

Established by the class of 1984 and given to the outstanding male student-athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Erica M. Bos Award (Inspiration): Caroline Kelleher (Soccer)

Established in 1990 to honor an athlete whose courage, motivation, and relentless determination serve as an inspiration to others.

Anita L. DeFrantz Award (Top Female Student-Athlete): Mairead Hynes (Basketball)

Established in 1995 by Kathryn Smith '84 and given to the female member of the graduating class whose athletic ability, leadership, and sportsmanship best exemplify the qualities of Olympic medalist Anita L. DeFrantz '74.

Anita L. DeFrantz Award (Top Male Student-Athlete): Ben Parens (Lacrosse)

Established in 1995 by Kathryn Smith '84 and given to the male member of the graduating class whose athletic ability, leadership, and sportsmanship best exemplify the qualities of Olympic medalist Anita L. DeFrantz '74.
